BLS Data Revisions Trigger Labor Department Investigation Into Collection Methods
The Labor Department’s inspector general opened a probe into BLS data collection after a major jobs revision. A preliminary benchmark cut March 2025 payrolls by 911,000, or 0.6%, triple the typical change. The review will look at how BLS gathers employment and inflation data and whether methods need updates. Final revisions are due with the January 2026 jobs report.
